Report on Erasmus+ mobility – stay at AJP in Gorzów Wielkopolski
My name is Marharyta Kiryk. I’m a student of English Philology from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno in Belarus. I had an unforgettable opportunity to study for the 2019/2020 spring semester at Jacob of Paradies University in Gorzów Wielkopolski as part of the Erasmus+ program. And now I want to tell you a little about my experience.
Participation in the Erasmus+ exchange program had always been my cherished dream. Starting from the second year, I applied for all possible programs, and in the third year I was lucky enough to become one of those who were approved!
I was a little afraid to go with absolutely minimal knowledge of Polish, but I took a risk and didn’t regret! Studying English Philology, all my subjects were taught in English. During the mobility I learned conversational Polish being immersed in the language environment, and thanks to the wonderful extracurricular Polish language course taught by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Agnieszka Niekrewicz. I would also like to thank my coordinator, Aleksandra Piotrowiak, and Professor Halina Uchto, who were always ready to help and solve all our problems, which was especially important during this difficult period of the pandemic. And of course, I would like to thank the Rector of the University, for giving me the opportunity to study here for a semester.
Unfortunately, most part of the mobility occurred during the COVID-19, which greatly affected our lives. That was the first time I was dealing with distance learning, which was a very interesting and useful experience. Although it wasn’t easy, my fellow students and teachers were very understanding and helped me with various issues.
Thanks to Erasmus+ I also met people who became an integral part of my life. Among them, I would like to highlight a student from Ukraine who also came there as part of the Erasmus+ program. We went through this difficult time of the pandemic together, for better or for worse, and this person will always be my best friend.
Erasmus+ was an unforgettable experience for me, which I will always remember with a smile on my face.
